It was the trip that had everything - illness, torrential rain, some great golf, some extremely atrocious golf, a plethora of hangovers, an unfortunate family bereavement, an abandoned round and more drama than you can shake a stick at. Yes, this was "Benidorm the Third".

Day 1 - Real de Faula: great weather and an enjoyable round
Day 2 - El Plantio: another great day on a tough course
Day 3 - Alicante: the heavens opened, a real battle
Day 4 - Alenda: fantastic course, marred by torrential rain, abandoned after 9 holes.

The Benidorm Trophy was won back by the Europe team, who were leading 9-3 after the first 2 sets of pairs matchplays. On the final day the individual matchplays were halved 6-6, giving Europe an overall 15-9 victory.
The overall individual winner was Alan Hankinson, with Paul Winstanley, Paul Shearon and Steve Bristow winning the other trophies.

The evenings were as sociable as ever, featuring Deggsy playing in the "Game Bird" on three evenings and a group visit to the "El Rincon" steak house on the final evening.
